Report from S&T Project 23064: Improved Performance During Drought at Glen Canyon
The Glen Canyon machine condition monitoring system provides reliable, accurate diagnostic information of hydropower generator Units 7 and 8. Commissioning confirmed accurate vibration and operational measurements, enabling development of meaningful alarm thresholds. This system was installed to support research into the effects of vortices that form at water intakes during low-reservoir conditions. The system is currently collecting baseline data so that it is prepared to support the study of intake vortex formation, helping assess equipment impacts and operational limits.
