Trinity Lake Dam and Powerplant
Trinity Dam is an earthfill dam on the Trinity River located about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Weaverville, California. The dam was completed in the early 1960s as part of the Central Valley Project to provide irrigation water to the San Joaquin Valley. Trinity Powerplant is a peaking plant with a capacity of 140 megawatts (MW). Generated power is dedicated to meeting the needs of the project facilities. Any remaining energy is then marketed to various preference customers in northern California, with Trinity County having first preference.
