Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake and Grand Coulee Dam

Grand Coulee Dam, once the world’s largest concrete structure, is the key feature of Reclamation’s Columbia Basin Project. Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake extends behind the dam 151 miles northeast to the Canadian border and 32 miles up the Spokane River to within 37 miles of Spokane. The lake has approximately 600 miles of shoreline. The project is a multi-purpose development that provides storage and operates for irrigation, flood control, hydropower, municipal, industrial, recreation, and fish management uses.
