Reclamation Information Sharing Environment (RISE)

Lewiston Dam was built from 1960-1963 about 7 miles downstream from Trinity Dam. The dam creates an afterbay to Trinity Powerplant and diverts water by means of Clear Creek Tunnel to Whiskeytown Lake. It is an earthfill structure 91 feet high and 754 feet long, forming a reservoir with a capacity of 14,660 acre-feet. Lewiston Lake is a reservoir created by Lewiston Dam on the Trinity River, near the towns of Weaverville and Lewiston in Trinity County, Calif. It is used for transbasin diversion to the Sacramento River and flood control, as well as for hydroelectric generation. It is a popular destination for fishing (rainbow, brown and brook trout), kayaking, and camping.
