S&T Project 24005 Final Report 1: Monitoring and implementing cavitation resistant coating field trials
The need for a durable cavitation resistant coating is desired to reduce operations and maintenance costs at Reclamation. Initial investigations looked at commercially available products in S&T project 20024 through a field trial at Grand Coulee Nathaniel Washington Powerplant on G21 turbine runner. A follow-up inspection is included in this report. To improve the performance of cavitation resistant coatings, several formulations were developed under S&T Project 23009. To validate performance, the current S&T Project 24005 installed field trials at five facilities: Estes Powerplant unit 2 turbine runner, Glen Canyon Dam Outlet Pipe No. 1, Flatiron Powerplant butterfly valves, Anderson Ranch Dam hollow jet valve No. 4, and Dillon Dam draft tube.
